April Dinner Meeting - eBooks and the In-house Editor

Thursday 19 April 2012, 6:30 for 7pm
CQ Functions, 113 Queen Street, CBD

Editors play a vital role in ensuring readers experience quality content, whatever the format; with the rapid rise of the ebook market, editors need to be prepared for this newest change in publishing technology.

Guest speaker Sarah Hazelton will discuss the three pillars of ebook editing - devices, formats and readers - as well as practical ways to improve the final ebook product, including planning for the ebook from acquisition and pre-publication quality assurance checks.

A long-time advocate for ebooks, Sarah Hazelton began her career at Random House Australia, editing children's and young adult titles before moving to Murdoch Books to work on the Pier 9 adult list. Now working freelance, she proofreads and tests ebooks for clients ranging from start-ups to multinational publishers.
