‘What do editors do?’ is the question of the month, with a review by Rory J Cole of the book What editors do: the art, craft, and business of book editing and a World wide web link to an article about the different editorial roles at Hardie Grant Media.

And helping you improve what you do as an editor is the focus of our upcoming training courses (including some new topics and presenters), our 14 June meeting on contracts for editors, and articles on editing for accessibility and posting to your blog directly from Word.

Renée Otmar, wearing both presidential and conference convener hats, has more information on the 2019 conference and also asks for your input as planning ramps up.

I hope you’ve also been reading the latest IPEd emails and newsletter to keep up with opportunities for input into the review of the Style manual, nominations opening for the John Simkin Medal for indexing, and exciting developments in PerfectIt (especially for those of you who edit on Macs). IPEd notes is online (for members only).

Have a great month,
