Going blue, remembering one of Victoria's great editors and helping you to network

  • Print

We've gone blue, that's IPEd blue, in a new newsletter design that I hope you enjoy reading, especially those who like to read it on a mobile phone. [Note: it is the email newsletter that has the updated format. Here online we haven't changed (yet).]

This month, we remember Nicholas (Nick) Hudson, HLM, whose editing life was quite extraordinary. Our thanks to Janet Mackenzie for drawing on her long friendship with Nick to write his obituary.

Our new president, Renée Otmar, outlines some of her priorities for the branch and the national society. In a separate article, she also updates us on the Standing Committee on Academic Editing, which is looking at revising the guidelines for thesis editing and other academic editing matters.

Elsewhere, we highlight the many other member activities going on – both formal and informal – and have a suggestion to help you establish meet-ups in your area. Plus, we have info on training, the accreditation exam and all the usual bits and bobs (or do you say 'bibs and bobs'?).

Have a great month.
