Gippsland editors: now we are six

by Caitilin Punshon

A full complement of six Gippsland editors, including one new member, gathered for a sunny lunch at the Warragul Country Club on Wednesday 14 March. We welcomed Sally-Anne to the group and celebrated the recent launch of a book Anne has been instrumental in bringing to publication (Deep Water, Dark Time by Julie Raitt Park with Anne Roussac-Hoyne).

It’s possible that our topics of conversation ranged more widely this time than ever before, encompassing such diverse matters as the differences between self-publishing, small press and vanity publication; costs and quoting for jobs; different business models; doing work that is meaningful, if not always profitable; the benefits of lending rights; the social model of disability; bushfire evacuation plans; labyrinths and gardens; (prospective) travels to Canada; art galleries in Los Angeles; surgery and anticipated recovery times; the sublime talents of Allison Janney; and more. Some of it was about editing, but much of it was the kind of conversation that good friends share when they get together.

More meetings are planned in places across Gippsland in May and July. Our group now includes Sally, Anne, Sally-Anne and Jan, along with Caitilin and Maree. If you think your name would fit neatly amid this list, feel free to get in touch with me at  or phone 0421 545 282.
