After a bit of a break, we have two newly scheduled training courses; one is a punctuation refresher and the other delves into the mysterious things that happen to Word documents when they are loaded into InDesign, and what you can do in Word to optimise that process.

Alison Rowe reports on the panel event on publishing last month when, once again, the RMIT students delivered a great night, and almost 100 people attended. Our next event is the Christmas get-together on 30 November with fabulous guest Fiona Scott-Norman.

Kate Cuthbert, proud romance reader (and editor, of course), is our Q&A subject this month. She’s just finished up as our events officer, but we couldn’t let her rest!

We also have tips on transcribing interviews, our new members, typo of the month, a reminder of the great bonus of membership that is the Secret Editors' Business Facebook group and plenty more.

Finally, we’re still looking for someone to step into the role of president – Mary-Jo explains how easy that would be for the right person. Please consider joining our executive team and steering Editors Victoria for a year or two.

Have a great month,
