Get Social: A Bonus of Your Membership

Every now and then I meet members who do not know about the Secret Editors' Business Facebook page. Some are not even on Facebook, for which they may deserve an award, and yet they are missing out on so much!

As many of you would know, this private Facebook group is a superb and welcoming community of Australian editors. To join, you need to be a member of IPEd (which you are if you’re a member of Editors Victoria) or the Canberra Society of Editors, but the group is not an IPEd entity. It’s just a bunch of editors (almost 600 now) getting together to ask and answer questions (mostly about hyphens – just kidding (not really)), share information and resources, celebrate and commiserate editing triumphs or disasters, and generally (and generously) provide support and the benefits of networking to editors working all across Australia.

I have heard it said that it’s worth being a member of IPEd just for Secret Editors' Business, and I wouldn’t disagree. Some people may even find it’s worth joining Facebook for!

And Editors Victoria is also engaging with members and the wider community – sharing news, jobs and events with over 1000 Facebook followers and almost 2000 Twitter followers.
