We're excited to announce that Editors Victoria has become a sponsor of the Industry Insights program, aimed at writers who want to take their writing career to the next level, at the 2016 Melbourne Writers Festival, 26 August to 4 September.

This embeds us as an expert voice in the writing community of the world’s second City of Literature and enables us to broaden our reach across the reading and writing community.

We are aligned with a masterclass called Editing hosted by John Freeman. This will be a three-hour masterclass, hosted at the University of Melbourne on Saturday 27 August 2016.

New York-based John Freeman is an award-winning writer and book critic who has written for numerous publications, including the New York Times Book Review, Los Angeles Times, Weekend Australian, Guardian and Wall Street Journal. He is the former editor of Granta, and the author of Shrinking the World and a collection of author interviews, How to Read a Novelist. He lives in New York City and is currently the editor of a new literary journal, Freeman's. His class will cover editing your own work and what editors look for. Having worked with writers from Haruki Murakami to Helen Garner, John Freeman is one of the world’s top literary editors. In this masterclass, he gives the inside scoop on what editors want.
