Etymology Competition: Win Writers Festival Tix

  • Print

Something different this month: we’re running an etymology competition. You could win tickets to the Melbourne Writers Festival (MWF), thanks to our sponsorship of the MWF for 2016.

The prize: Two tickets to a session at the 2016 MWF (details TBC).

To enter: Send us an etymology piece of up to 200 words, exploring the origins of unusual or everyday words. Make it entertaining and keep in mind that we like etymology pieces with a story, not just a dictionary explanation.

Submissions: Email your entry to communication@editorsvictoria.org by 5pm, Monday 18 July 2016.

Judging: The Editors Victoria Communication team will be looking for the most unusual, intriguing or quirky entry. The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into!

Key dates: Competition closes on Monday 18 July 2016 and the winning entry will be published in the August newsletter. Winners will also be notified by email.

Eligibility: Open to all current members of Editors Victoria
