Tension is building for dozens of Victorian editors who are considering, or already studying for, the upcoming IPEd accreditation exam. In this newsletter, we have more information on the exam process, registration and key dates.

Another date for your diary is the next IPEd conference, which will be in Brisbane in September 2017. This will be the first conference of the new national organisation; I wonder what it will look like by then. In the meantime, we have an update on the transition process that is already under way.

For those willing to travel further, the UK Society for Editors and Proofreaders conference in Birmingham in September 2016 offers a discount to Editors Victoria members (as members of IPEd).

For our January issue, Julia Carlomagno, senior editor at Scribe, put us in touch with author Craig Munro for our Q&A column and a book review. Now Julia is the one under the spotlight: she describes her work challenges and joys.

This month, Carolyn Leslie reviews a book that many of you will have heard of: Mary Norris’s book Between You & Me: Confessions of a Comma Queen.

IPEd has announced the winner of the IPEd Prize 2015, and the editor of Viva La Novella IV (sponsored by IPEd and the Society of Editors (NSW)) has also been announced.

Awarding prizes is one way of acknowledging editors, and that is the theme of a special guest article by Orsuvè Herausgeber, written especially for today.

Have a great month.
