Dark Fantasy: Symposium on the Future of Young Adult Fiction

In recent years the top-selling YA books have been inhabited by zombies, vampires, teenage death squads and young people with terminal illnesses. Join in this discussion on trends in YA publishing with acclaimed authors Penni Russon (the Undine trilogy, Josie and the Michael Street Kids), Sally Rippin (the Billie B Brown series, Angel Creek) and editor Susannah Chambers (Allen & Unwin). Susannah has recently returned from her Beatrice Davis Fellowship trip to New York where she met and worked with authors, editors and publishers in a quest to find out what the future of YA might look like.

Our moderator is Anna Burkey (Centre for Youth Literature, State Library of Victoria), convenor of the YA judging panel for the Victorian Prize for Literature.
