You'll have to forgive us if we seem a bit distracted this month.

One half of your editorial team is feverishly preparing for the dreaded IPEd accreditation exam this coming Saturday. And by 'preparing', we mean drinking far too much tea and eating way too many Jaffa Cakes while flicking through the index of the Style Manual to find out if the names of ships are italicised or contained in quotation marks.

The Style Manual's index is, of course, a thing of beauty. If you would like to learn how to make one of your own, Max McMaster is running two indexing courses for us this month.

If you can already put AE at the end of your email signature and are totally across the whole indexing thing, why not consider becoming a mentor? We are holding two workshops this month to explain to potential mentors how the new national mentoring program works.

And don't forget to check out our regular columns: Micro Mentor, Dear Ed and another fascinating Etymology from Maja.

Your eds,

Lorna Hendry and Kate Goldsworthy
